Ruchika Grover seeks to inspire, grow and aid to evolve work & art in stone and natural materials. Her design studio, Borrowed Earth Collaborative, celebrates our inviolable connection to nature and attempts to recreate the innate joy of cohabitating amidst it by transforming natural materials into works of architectural art. Grover is a self-taught artist; her interest in stone, primarily, blossomed at the age of 14 when she began traveling with her father, a stone merchant, to rock formations and quarries. These earlier experiences formed the foundation of her understanding of materiality and craftsmanship, eventually pushing her to establish her first design atelier focused on small installations, Odyssey, in 2007. 

Grover currently lives and works between LA and New Delhi, constantly exploring the immense potential of natural materials through research, development, and investment in the latest technologies. Marble and natural stone are an inherent part of Ruchika’s identity. Her creative aspirations lead her towards immersive spaces, where the elements like water, sun, and earth interact harmoniously with her art installations. These immersive spaces also offer exciting opportunities for collaborations with sound, light, and other visual artists.

Ruchika has received numerous awards for her work, including Architecture & Design Awards’ 40 Under 40 (Hong Kong, China), Elle Décor International Design Awards’ Award for Surfaces (New Delhi, India) the American Society of Interior Designers’ Best in Category for Innovative Outdoor Products (Los Angeles) and many others.

Ruchika and Borrowed Earth Collaborative have brought to life sustainably manufactured tiles and slabs, residential and commercial sculptural installations, façade architecture, freestanding works of art, indoor and outdoor stone murals, custom stone vanities and other custom interior designs.
